The influence of steel ball gradation and ball feeding system in ball mills on grinding operations
The gradation of steel balls and the ball feeding system are the keys to the grinding efficiency. If the steel balls are mismatched, three major problems will arise immediately.
The first output has plummeted. There aren't enough big balls, so coarse ore can't be crushed. There aren't enough small balls, so fine powder can't be ground finely.
Second, energy consumption has increased significantly. The imbalance of the steel ball gradation leads to power consumption during idling and also accelerates the wear of the steel balls and liners.
The third quality failure. Overgrinding leads to mudding, while undergrinding affects the recovery rate. The mineral processing indicators are all in a mess.
Ball matching is very important. We should adopt three major countermeasures.
The first precise gradation, with coarse minerals mostly using large balls. Fine grinding increases the number of small balls. The middle ratio column can be flexibly adjusted. Both impact and grinding are carried out simultaneously.
Second, make up for the ball scientifically. Steel balls should be replenished strictly in accordance with the consumption per ton of ore. Give priority to replenishing the large balls to maintain the breakage rate without exhaustion.
The third dynamic adjustment is to listen to the sound. A dull noise indicates an excess of small balls. A crisp sound is equivalent to a lack of big balls.
